My artistic journey was first built through an intensive practice of engraving. In the intimacy of the workshop, wood carving (xylography) taught me to sculpt light and to tame the material through the force of the chisel. This technical requirement of the imprint has durably forged my gaze. Today, my approach is enriched by a permanent dialogue with painting. Where engraving digs and removes, painting allows me to layer materials and to freely explore colour. At the crossroads of these two practices, my work is part of the tradition of Belgian magical realism, seeking to capture the mysterious essence of the real.
